Podgy Pets Need A Diet Plan
The pets tend to get podgy with high caloric food and less exercise or it may only be a matter of aging which is usually linked with obesity in pets.
The best part about planning a diet plan for the pets is that you are totally in control the pet itself cannot catch up on its favorite food unless you intend to. The pets should only be given those foods which their body needs; in short it should be bulky but very low in calories. These types of food are low in fats and high in carbohydrates and roughage or fibers. This helps because the pets can burn more calories while digesting carbohydrates than the fats, together with the roughage which adds to the feeling of fullness without actually the built up of calories.
The other technique to be followed is that it is advisable to give the pets several small meals through out the day than a few large meals. This burns out more calories in digesting the small meals than the large meals. Even these small meals should include the less caloric items such as the carrots, peas, string beans, and cabbage. It is always recommended to keep the pet in a good multivitamin and minerals supplement along with the meals.
Along with the meals plan, the pets should also be given enough exercise and walks so as to keep their digestive system active and body fit and fine.
