Of Pets and Poisons
The danger of poison and pets has always been a major source of the pet's disease, disorders and also in most of the situations death.
The most important thing is to first identify the poisonous sources which can be harmful for the pets. These sources then should be either completely eradicated or safety precautions should be taken against them.
As pets usually are also kept outdoors, the plants can be a major problem for some of the pets. Make sure you are aware of all the plants in your house, and that they are not poisonous, some plants can be fatal, others like lilies can cause different diseases like kidney failures.
You should always prevent your pets from going to the storage areas where cleaning agents are kept and stored. These can cause a variety of problems such as the severe burns of tongue, stomach and mouth.
Medications should only be given to the pets on the prescription of the vet because some of the medicines useful for the humans can be harmful for the pets therefore it is advisable to always check with the vet first.
Some of the very common household items such as the cigarettes, batteries, detergents etc can all be very dangerous for the pets and can cause severe problems, therefore care should be taken that these items are out of the reach of your pets.
Make sure that your pets do not enter the areas in your house which have been sprayed for fumigation or even for the pleasant smell purpose; these sprays in excess can cause various diseases to pets and even unconsciousness.
If your lawn or garden is treated with any sort of fertilizer or herbicide, it is strongly recommended to keep your pet indoors and it should be entirely restricted to go out.
