Keeping Parrot As Pets
Parrots are one of the very fun-loving and enjoyable pets, they are colorful, lively and also easy to manage and maintain as well.
There are certain types of recommended parrots to be kept as pets. The Cockatiel is one such parrot which is highly recommended. It comes in yellow and white colors and can be very tame and confiding in the owners. Then come the African Parrots which are grey and brown in colors with red tail feathers and the Amazon Parrots which are of various colors ranging from orange, blue to yellow. The other types of recommended Parrots are the South American, Macaws and even the Cockatoos.
Feeding a Parrot is not much of a major issue, because parrots are normally easy to handle and take care of. However Parrots usually demand a varied diet, if they are in the wild they usually eat fruits, and ripe seed. Some foods that can be offered to parrots on a regular basis are, mixed millets, canary seed, wheat, maize, hemp, and safflower, etc
The most liked fruits of the Parrots are the bananas, sweet apples, oranges and cherries. Amongst the vegetables the most liked by the Parrots are the carrots, the beans, peas and even the spinach. The most important thing to take care of is that every food may it be vegetables or fruits, they should be all washed thoroughly before offered to the parrot. Parrots also enjoy treats like soaked biscuits and toasts dipped in honey. Fresh and pure water should be used everyday for the parrots, with a few drops of multi vitamins.
Parrots are long living pets therefore it is very important for them to be kept in large cages, imagine being trapped in one small cage the whole long life! Therefore you should buy the largest cage you can afford.
